Y Fashion House
from Y Fashion Quarterly, Issue I
It has been a dream of mine to start a YFH magazine since I joined the club as a first-year. This magazine has allowed us to showcase the creativity of our members in their writing, photography, modeling, and graphics, as well as collaborate with local New Haven businesses. The magazine serves to complement the other endeavors we have undertaken this semester, including a speaker series featuring luminaries in the industry, with some of the interviews featured in this issue.

The goal of the Y Fashion House has always been to provide a place for fashion at Yale. The club is now in its fifth year. Since there are few undergraduate courses related to fashion, and it is a less obvious career choice for Yale students, my hope is that YFH can serve to fill in the gaps and provide an outlet for students who are passionate about fashion. Too often, the fashion industry is looked down on as something frivolous or unintelligent.
I hope that through our different projects we are able to show Yale students, and the public more broadly, how important fashion is in our world. Fashion and apparel is a trillion-dollar industry and one that touches our lives every day. Fashion is a way of expressing who we are and how we want the world to see us. I hope that by reading this magazine and attending our events, you will either find a place for your love of fashion or begin to appreciate the importance of the industry.
We are proud to be one of the few clubs at Yale that does not offer an application because we believe there is room for everyone in fashion. So please, come join us anytime. Everyone is welcome.
